Why Offer Online Painting Estimate Scheduling?

Years ago when I first started out operating a painting company, getting an estimate was difficult for a homeowner. If you wanted an estimate you had to call around to a lot of different painting companies until someone answered the phone.

Now, I can tell you that good painters are busy painters, and they spend most of their time working on ladders, holding paint brushes, operating loud vacuums and sprayers; so actually hearing and then answering the phone can be a challenge.  But just because it's understandable that answering the phone can be a challenge doesn't make it any less difficult for you to get someone on the phone.

And then even when you got a painter on the phone and scheduled an estimate, there is no guarantee that the painter would show up for the estimate. Traffic, job ran late, calendaring issue--I've been there. But again, just because it's understandable that things happen doesn't help you in your search for a painting estimate. No matter the reason, if the appointment gets missed, you have to start all over again.

Be honest, it's infuriating. I know it is. When I'm not painting, I'm also a purchaser of goods and services, and I deal with the same issues--although not with painting, but definitely with plumbers and electricians, and the occasional landscaper.

So I sought to fix the estimating problem, at least for painters. I wanted to offer homeowners who were looking for a painter an easy way to schedule painting estimates, without having to make countless phone calls and complicated calendar coordination. 

My solution to the problem? I wanted to offer painting estimates online through an automated calendaring system that homeowners like you could access at your convenience, day or night, 7 days a week.

How Did The Online Painting Estimate Scheduling Come Into Existence?

Turns out that just because I could dream it didn't mean I could do it. When I wanted to create my website, I brought my online calendaring idea to my web designer. I asked him to create an online calendaring system to serve my customers' by giving them a convenient way to schedule estimates. My web designer laughed at me, told me I was too small for that, and said it wasn't possible. And then my web designer and I parted ways, and I told him that I'd design the website myself. It didn't seem right to me that just because I wasn't Amazon that I couldn't offer automated online painting estimate scheduling.

Turns out my web designer was right, at least for a while. The technology wasn't widely available at the time I originally wanted it, not unless I paid to have a scheduling platform custom built just for me. And that was a nice idea but not within the realm of budgetary possibility.

So I waited. And I waited. And I searched. And I waited some more. And then, it took several years, but finally the automated calendar technology was developed and mass produced in such a way that it became accessible to a small painting company like mine.

Online Painting Estimate Scheduling Today

Well, what you see below is my solution to the old fashioned problem of scheduling estimates. By using the widely available calendar coordination software below, for your convenience, I am able to offer online estimate scheduling for interior painting, exterior painting, and kitchen and bathroom renovations.

It's still new new technology, so lots of tradesmen are still scared of it because innovation is challenging. And anything challenging can be scary.  But I have embraced it, and I believe my customers are happier for it. 

My online estimate scheduling portal allows you to schedule an online painting estimate via zoom, as well as an in-person estimate. The calendars for both types of estimates are updated regularly and reflect my actual availability. For that reason, you will see that I have a lot more availability for painting estimates via Zoom; it's easy for me to jump on a call and meet with you online as you walk me around your home, no matter where I happen to be working that day. In most cases, I am able to offer a firm painting estimate based solely on the Zoom estimate.

Of course, painting is still a skilled trade, and face to face meetings are important. Sometimes, a painting estimate over Zoom just isn't appropriate. And for that reason, there is still an option to schedule an in-person painting estimate. I actually prefer them because the personal relationship I have with my customers is so important to me. But it's not always the most convenient for you. So I still offer and enjoy in-person estimating. Availability is a bit more limited, but scheduling is easier than ever.
